DENVER — Chris Udofia had 21 points, and Brett Olson chipped in with 18 as Denver ended UT Arlington’s six-game winning streak with an 84-55 rout Thursday at Magness Arena.
Denver (20-8, 15-2 Western Athletic Conference) and UTA (17-11, 11-6) came into the game as the top two defensive teams in the WAC, but the Mavericks gave up the most points they’ve allowed all season.“You can’t simulate what [Denver does] in practice; it would take months,” UTA coach Scott Cross said. “They’re so fast with the way they move, and their offense is so precise. And we weren’t quite as aggressive as we could have been. They picked us apart.”Karol Gruszecki led the Mavericks with 16 points and five rebounds.UTA committed 22 turnovers that the Pioneers turned into 40 points. Denver also shot 59.6 percent from the field and hit 11 3-pointers with four Pioneers starters scoring in double figures.
