College notes: TCU football game moved to prime time

TCU’s football game at Texas Tech has been moved to Thursday, Sept. 12, and will be televised by Fox Sports or ESPN.

Other Big 12 Thursday night games are Texas at Iowa State (Oct. 3), Oklahoma at Baylor (Nov. 7) and Texas Tech at Texas on Thanksgiving night (Nov. 28).

TCU gunning for title

The TCU rifle team will begin its quest for a third national championship in four years today and Saturday in Columbus, Ohio, at the NCAA Championships at Converse Hall and French Field House at Ohio State. TCU won the national title in 2010 and 2012.

Briefly

• Texas football: The Longhorns have hired Patrick Suddes, former associate director of football operations at Alabama, to become the Longhorns’ director of player personnel, school officials announced. Suddes, a 2005 Alabama graduate, will lead recruiting efforts. He spent the past eight seasons working on staffs led by Nick Saban, including Saban’s last two years with the NFL’s Miami Dolphins (2005, 2006). — Jimmy Burch

• UTA women’s tennis: The Mavericks lost 4-1 to the Wichita State Shockers at the UTA Tennis Center. Elizabeth Thoms picked up UTA’s only point with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Veronika Blaskova.
