FBI statistics for 2009 state that there were 9,146 firearm deaths in the United States; 348 were by all types of rifles. There were 1,825 homicides by knives, 611 by hammers and clubs, and 801 by hands and fists.
In 2011, 9,878 deaths in the United States were caused by drunken drivers. About 200,000 to 225,000 die each year in the United States from medical mistakes. These statistics show that, instead of controlling rifles, the government should control hammers, knives and fists. It should take away cars and put doctors and hospitals out of business. But that isn't the government's agenda. When honest citizens turn in their guns, only the bad guys and the government have guns.-- Eugene Ross, GranburyHave more to add?
