The UT Arlington women’s basketball team meets Denver on Thursday night in hopes of avenging a 90-52 loss in December.In that game, the Pioneers made 10 3-pointers and shot 49 percent from the floor while holding the Mavericks to 34 percent shooting.Five players scored in double figures for Denver. Junior guard Laila Suleiman led UTA with nine points.The Pioneers have won two straight. Denver’s Emiko Smith leads the Western Athletic Conference with 6.6 assists per game. Teammate Morgan Van Riper-Rose is 12th in the conference in scoring at 13.3 points a game.The Mavericks have lost two in a row. They close out the regular season Saturday at home against New Mexico State.UTA is tied for ninth and last in the 10-team WAC with Texas State. The final two games will determine seedings for the WAC tournament, which starts Tuesday in Las Vegas.
