FORT WORTH -- Four Fort Worth companies were honored Tuesday with 2013 Small Business of the Year awards by the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce.

The awards were presented at the 10th Annual State of the City address by Mayor Betsy Price at the Fort Worth Convention Center.

Peloton Land Solutions, a planning and engineering firm, received the award in the emerging business category. Aric Head, Richard Payne and Patrick Smith founded the firm in 2010, and it has grown to more than 50 employees.

Red Productions, a video production company founded in 2005 by Red Sanders, received the award among companies with between one and 10 employees.

Texas Jet, a 35-year-old fixed-base operator at Meacham Airport, was recognized in the 11-to-50 employee category. Reed Pigman is the company's president.

And the Landscape Partners, founded in 2003, was named the winner in the 51-to-150 employee category. David Minor is the CEO and managing partner.

"Every year, I'm more impressed with the caliber of small businesses entering this competition and the brilliance of their leadership," said Bill Thornton, president and CEO of the Fort Worth chamber.

The honorees were among 94 nominees and selected on such factors as business growth and performance, sound business strategies and practices and community involvement.

They will share some of their best practices on March 26 at a breakfast event at Colonial Country Club.
