Tuesday begins what could be a two-game series between the TCU women’s basketball team and Kansas, with a 7 p.m. tipoff at Allen Fieldhouse.

Even with a win, TCU is locked into the 10th seed heading into this weekend’s Big 12 Tournament and is likely to face Kansas again in the first round as the No. 7 seed.

The Horned Frogs couldn’t ask for a better time to face the Jayhawks as the red and blue ride a four-game losing streak and TCU comes off its second win of the season, 61-58 over Iowa State on Senior Night.

In their first meeting, TCU saw its opportunity to pick up its first Big 12 win vanish in the blink of an eye as Kansas scored with 14 seconds left, leading to a Jayhawks victory. TCU freshman guard Zahna Medley had her young career’s best night, scoring 35 points, going 10 for 22 from the field and 7 for 14 from 3-point range.

Kansas senior forward Carolyn Davis is sixth in the conference in scoring, averaging 15.4 points per game.

The key for TCU to win and heading into the conference tournament is to continue balancing its offense between low post cuts and 3-point shooting, which saw TCU shoot just shy of 50 percent Saturday in its win over Iowa State.

The programs meet for just the third time in the Horned Frogs’ first visit to Allen Fieldhouse with the series tied at one.
