BEDFORD -- A three-story building located on Airport Freeway service road that once housed CI Host will begin to come down this week.
Demolition crews will begin razing the former CI Host building at 1851 Central Dr. on Wednesday. The three-story structure, which is painted completely white, has been empty since CI Host moved out in November 2009.The property will be used for parking by the Cheddar's restaurant, located next door, which lost much of its parking lot to a freeway expansion. The building's owner, Denali Properties in Irving, has hired Vista General Contractors to oversee the project. Midwest Wrecking in Fort Worth will do the demolition."The demolition of this CI Host building is another major step in our city's continued plans to enhance key entrances to our city and bring new businesses to Bedford," said Bedford Mayor Jim Griffin, in a statement. "I am excited about the great partnership we have with Cheddar's and I am encouraged by all the improvements they are making to their restaurant and the surrounding property."Griffin will speak to the media and public at 9 a.m. and then board a piece of heavy construction equipment for a ceremony beginning demolition of the 29-year-old, 25,629-square-foot building.Julie Carroll, project manager with Vista General Contractors, said that the mostly stucco and steel building will take three to five days to raze, and that it will take about three weeks before all of the building debris is removed and recycled. The building has also housed offices for Southwestern Bell and Comerica Bank. This past weekend, AT&T finished removing several cell phone towers from the site.Sandra Baker, 817-390-7727Twitter: @SandraBakerFWSTHave more to add? News tip? Tell us
