A Watauga man who told federal agents he'd been downloading child porn since the mid-90s, including a few hours before they served a search warrant at his house, was sentenced in Dallas Monday morning to 15 years in federal prison.
Walter Eugene Rogers, 33, had pleaded guilty in November to one count of transporting and shipping child pornography.Rogers must also serve five years on supervised release, U.S. District Judge David C. Godbey ordered.Rogers' home was searched in November 2011 based on an undercover investigation by a Homeland Security Investigations agent aimed at identifying those distributing child porn through peer-to-peer file sharing networks.During the search, agents seized a computer, storage devices and a bag of printed child porn images."Rogers admitted that he had been downloading child pornography since the mid-1990s and that he is attracted to boys 9-12 years of age," said a news release issued by the U.S. attorney's office for the northern district. "Rogers also admitted that he had images and videos of sex acts, bondage and other sadistic acts involving children, and that he had downloaded child pornography just a few hours before agents arrived that day."Rogers has been in custody since his arrest in Georgia in September 2012 on a related charge.Deanna Boyd, (817) 390-7655Twitter: @deannaboydHave more to add?
