LOGAN, Utah — The UT Arlington women’s basketball team was outscored 22-2 to start the game and never recovered, losing 81-57 to Utah State on Saturday.
The Mavericks (6-21, 3-13 WAC) shot only 25 percent from the floor in the first half while Utah State (16-11, 13-3) shot 40 percent, including 7 of 19 3-pointers, and led 45-22 at the half.Utah State’s Devyn Christensen and Jenna Johnson combined for 23 points and four 3-pointers in the first half.UTA found its offense in the second half, scoring 35 points on 15 of 32 shots, but couldn’t gain ground on the Aggies.Four Aggies finished in double figures, led by Christensen’s game-high 24 points, Johnson added 17 points and 14 rebounds, Jennifer Schlott scored 12 and Makenlee Williams added 11.Desherra Nwanguma scored 12 points and Laila Suleiman scored 11 for the Mavericks, who fell to 4-11 on the road.
