FORT WORTH -- Apparently, the show cannot always go on.
A curtain caught fire Saturday two hours before a ballet performance at Bass Hall downtown, causing a last-minute cancellation of Texas Ballet Theater's Lambarena and Voluntaries. No injuries or structural damage was reported, and no patrons were in the building, Dione Kennedy, president and CEO of Performing Arts Fort Worth, said in a statement.Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and were investigating, Fire Department spokesman Richard Harrison said. No damage estimate was available.Patrons arrived in the evening to flashing police lights and a fire alarm, then were turned away.Mark Hurtado and Erin Perkins of Denton had been looking forward to the ballet but said the cancellation would not ruin their evening."We'll just walk around and enjoy the night," Hurtado said.Tickets can be exchanged at no cost for today's 2 p.m. performance or for a ballet in May. Patrons can call 877-828-9200 for information.Sarah Bahari, 817-390-7056Twitter: @sarahbfwHave more to add? News tip? Tell us
