TCU fell behind 5-0 through three innings and couldn't recover as Jacksonville held on Friday for a 5-3 victory that dropped the Frogs to 1-7 to open the season.

TCU’s Brandon Finnegan (0-3) took the loss despite striking out 11. He gave up five runs on six hits and three walks in six innings.

Jacksonville took a 1-0 lead in the first on a home run by Dylan Dillard. Two two-out walks then led to the Dolphins’ four-run third inning. Alex McRae had a two-run double and Brady North added a two-run homer for Jacksonville.

TCU took advantage of errors in the fourth inning to close the gap. Dylan Fitzgerald had a two-out double and Keaton Jones drove him in with a bouncer up the middle. An error allowed another run to score, cutting the lead to 5-2.

TCU added a run in the ninth on a RBI by Derek Odell, but the Dolphins held on.
