I read that 300 bicycles will be made available this April for cyclists to rent as part of Fort Worth Bike Sharing (See: "City seeks volunteers for bike share program," Feb. 22).

This nonprofit organization was seeded by a $1 million federal grant last year from our benevolent government, which is busy being all things to all people and all causes.

How many boondoggles such as this are funded every year nationwide, and at what cost?

This is the same government that cannot cut federal spending by 2 percent without raising taxes. This is the same government that promises dire consequences for us all because of the sequester. This is the same government that is unable to dial back its spending without impacting national defense, border security and air traffic control.

What's wrong with this picture?
