The UT Arlington women’s basketball team ends its seven-day layoff Thursday when it travels to San Jose State.

The Mavericks’ last game was an 82-57 win over New Orleans on Feb. 20.

Interim head coach Karen Blair said the team has been trying to get better in every aspect of the game during the time off.

“We have these conference games left and we’re trying to get better on one thing each and every day and then grow on that and get better at something else so we can make a few adjustments offensively and defensively,” Blair said.

Junior guard Desherra Nwanguma said her teammates are starting to get more confident after each practice.

“It brings us that much closer to where we can have that mind-set of we can keep winning and we can do this and hopefully that can carry over to the next game,” Nwanguma said.

Aided by 30 Mavericks turnovers, the Spartans won the first meeting of the season 78-70.
