Man shot during carjacking in Grand Prairie

A man was shot in the left leg as he ran from a would-be carjacker early Wednesday at a Grand Prairie apartment complex, police said.

The victim was taken to a hospital and was treated and released, Grand Prairie police said.

The incident was reported about 12:30 a.m. at Timber Oaks Apartments in the 7000 block of Timber Oaks Lane.

Investigators said a person walked up to the victim and demanded the keys to his vehicle. The victim fled as the bandit opened fire, police said.

The suspect also ran off.
