FORT WORTH -- A homeless man suffered severe burns early Tuesday in a fire that destroyed a pickup and damaged a nearby home, according to a television station report.

The man had second- and third-degree burns over 30 percent of his body, mostly to his legs, KTVT CBS 11 reported. The man, who was not identified, was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. His condition was unavailable.

The blaze occurred about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of Seminary Drive.

Firefighters found a fully involved truck and fire in the house when they first arrived at the residence.

The victim and a friend had been outside cooking earlier in the evening and the homeless man fell asleep, the television station reported. High winds rekindled the fire and flames reached a pickup and then the home.
