About the Bucks: Even with a losing record and having lost nine of 11 games, the Bucks are sitting in the East’s eighth and final playoff spot with a four-game lead over Toronto and Philadelphia. ... Point guard Brandon Jennings, who was mentioned as possibly coming to the Mavs via a trade last week, leads the Bucks with 18.9 points and 6.1 assists per game . Monta Ellis averages 18.2 ppg and 5.6 apg . ... The Bucks acquired J.J. Redick in a trade with Orlando last week. In his first game with Milwaukee, Redick came off the bench, played 35 minutes and finished with 16 points and seven assists in Saturday’s 103-102 loss to Atlanta. ... Forward Larry Sanders had 12 points and 19 rebounds against Atlanta .

About the Mavericks: The Mavs missed a chance to gain a game on the Rockets and the Lakers when they lost at home to LA on Sunday, 103-99. Dallas is four-and-half games behind eighth-place Houston out West and one-and-a-half games behind the Lakers. ... Dirk Nowitzki is coming off his best game of the year with season-highs of 30 points and 13 rebounds against the Lakers . ... The Mavs must get better production out of starting guards O.J. Mayo and Darren Collison, who combined for 15 points on 5-of-20 shooting in the loss to the Lakers. ... In his first game back after missing 10 with a concussion, center Chris Kaman had four points and four rebounds in eight minutes.
