Bridge completed in Roanoke
To celebrate completion of the Marshall Creek Road Bridge connecting to Briarwyck subdivision, a community ribbon cutting will be held at 10 a.m. March 1 at the Briarwyck side on Blythe Bridge Drive.In January 2012, Roanoke City Council approved a contract with Sinacola to construct the Marshall Creek Road Bridge from Highway 377 to Blythe Bridge Drive in the Briarwyck subdivision. Construction, which began in February 2012, finished a few months ahead of schedule.Cake will be served at the event, which will include HOA representatives, community members, city officials and project managers. Citizen’s Police AcademyApplications are due March 8 for the 2013 Spring Citizen’s Police Academy, for Trophy Club residents interested in learning about law enforcement.After completing the 11-week training, participants will be certified to join the Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni, a volunteer organization that helps the Police Department with activities. Additional training is available to become a member of Citizens on Patrol (COP) and the Citizen’s Emergency Response Team (CERT).Classes meet from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursdays at 100 Municipal Drive. The first class begins March 14. One class is scheduled on Wednesday at the Denton County Detention facility.Participants must be at least 18, a resident of Trophy Club and never have been convicted of a class B misdemeanor or greater. Symphony performanceFort Worth Symphony Orchestra will perform at 7:30 p.m. March 9 at Keller High School Fine Arts Center, 601 Pate Orr Road.Led by conductor Andres Franco, the orchestra will play selections from Rossini, Lalo, Schubert and Brahms. Support for the performance is provided by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Texas Commission on the Arts, ArtsNET, the City of Keller, the Keller Public Arts Program and Keller ISD.Tickets can be purchased at the Parks and Recreation department at Keller Town Hall, 1100 Bear Creek Parkway; The Keller Pointe customer service desk, 405 Rufe Snow Drive; and The Keller Senior Activities Center, 660 Johnson Road.
