Mother Nature will be bringing her full arsenal to the area in the next few days, and North Texans could see rain, strong winds and maybe even snow.
A strong cold front was blowing through North Texas Monday morning with a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms."It could be a little rough for motorists," meteorologist Eric Martello of the National Weather Service office in Fort Worth said Sunday.Monday's storms were predicted to bring less than a half-inch of rain but could be severe with the threat of hail, Martello said.Strong winds will follow the early morning front.The National Weather Service office in Fort Worth has issued a wind advisory for most of North Texas from 10 a.m. until midnight. Winds gusts could reach 50 mph.Forecasters say the strong winds could knock down some power lines, branches and small trees.High temperatures are expected to be in the low 50s."The clouds will return Monday evening, and there's a chance of rain and a little bit of snow," said meteorologist Steve Fano of the weather service. "The best chance of snow will be along the Red River, but DFW could get some snow."Tuesday is expected to bring in colder air and continued windy conditions.Temperatures are expected to be in the mid-30s Tuesday morning, with wind chills from 18 to 23 degrees.The rest of the week calls for lows in the 30s and highs in the 50s."We're going to have temperatures seven to eight degrees colder this week," Fano said.
