ARLINGTON — UT Arlington scored six runs in the seventh inning to finish off a 10-8 comeback victory over Northeastern on Friday at Clay Gould Ballpark.

The Mavericks had four consecutive hits after loading the bases to rally from a three-run deficit.

UTA shortstop Ryan Walker drove home two runs on a single to center field, and the Mavs took the lead after Brandon Lawrence singled. Matt Shortall ended the scoring with a two-run single, and Chase Weaver came in to close the game out for UTA (4-1).

“I’m proud of the way we came back,” UT Arlington coach Darin Thomas said. “It is a good win because we were sputtering there for a while. Their starter was in control and had good stuff.”

Shortall and Justin Copeland knocked in a combined seven of UTA’s runs. UTA is 4-0 at home.

UTA starter Andy Scott went five innings in his second start, allowing two earned runs with four strikeouts.

The Mavericks and Huskies complete their series Saturday with a doubleheader starting at noon.
