Four-star defensive tackle Tevin Lawson signed with TCU on Friday.

Lawson, from Denham Springs High School in Louisiana, was recruited by numerous schools, including LSU, which pulled its scholarship offer a week before National Signing Day.

Lawson declined a grayshirt offer from LSU and chose to attend TCU.

Lawson (6-foot-4, 280 pounds) is the second four-star recruit of the class and improved TCU’s recruiting class ranking by Rivals to No. 30.

• Women’s tennis: TCU rolled in doubles and held off an Arizona rally in singles to drop the visiting Wildcats 4-3.

The 28th-ranked Horned Frogs improved to 6-1 on the year with their third straight win. Arizona, ranked 30th, slipped to 6-4. It was TCU’s first win in six tries against Arizona.

“I guess I can call them the cardiac kids,” TCU coach Dave Borelli said. “The key is the doubles. We’re playing great doubles.”

Men’s golf: TCU shot an 11-under 277 and leads by seven strokes following the first round of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate in Palm Desert, Calif.

Julien Brun shot a 4-under 68 and is tied for first place with Texas Tech’s Clement Sordet.

Four other TCU players — Eli Cole, Paul Barjon, Pontus Gad and Daniel Jennevret — are in the top 10.

Cole is tied for third with a 3-under 69, and Barjon, Gad, and Jennevret are tied for fifth with a 2-under 70.

TCU is aiming for its first tournament victory of the season after claiming a pair of top-3 results in its three previous spring events.

• Football: Pro Day has been moved up a day to March 7.
