Jonathan Weisman of The New York Times, along with all Democratic senators and a few old-guard Republicans, laments that Sen. Ted Cruz is not a go-along/get-along member. (See: "Ted Cruz making waves in the Senate," Feb. 16)

Really! And this is the Senate that has facilitated accumulating a $16 trillion debt for the next generations and has abrogated its constitutional duty to prepare a budget the past four years.

While I don't like suggestions by innuendo that Sen. Chuck Hagel may have received honorariums from North Korea, it pales in comparison to President Barack Obama's false assertion that foreign corporations can contribute to political campaigns.

Comity is nice, but it's much more important that the Senate actually perform its duties openly and honestly.

I hope Cruz continues to challenge the old guard.
