Out of an over-abundance of caution, the Weatherford College Police Department has locked exterior doors and added extra security to the Education Center at Mineral Wells this afternoon.

College officials said it was in response to an unspecified threat in the general Fort Wolters area.

“This is not considered a ‘lock-down’ per se but only a precautionary measure,” officials said in an e-mail statement. “Students and personnel are able to leave the campus as desired.”

There was no overt threat to WC students, faculty or staff at the ECMW.
