Arlington police have identified a man arrested after an overnight standoff in west Arlington as Cory Allen Black, 27.

Officers responded to a domestic call about 1 a.m. Friday after a resident in the 2500 block of Windy Pine Lane called 911 to report seeing a woman outside a home "being hit and asking for help," according to news release from Arlington police.

A second 911 call was placed by a friend of the woman, who said she was afraid the man would hurt the woman and that he may have a gun, police said.

When officers arrived, they saw a man and woman inside the house but they did not respond to knocks at the door or phone calls, police said. Police were able to speak to the woman at one point, but other communication attempts were unsuccessful.

Four homes in the neighborhood were evacuated, police said.

At 8 a.m., SWAT officers forced entry into the home and used a Taser on the suspect after he refused to comply with officers' demands, according to the news release. The woman was not critically injured and was talking with members of the department's victim services unit.

The man and woman apparently lived at the house together, police said.

Black could face charges of unlawful restraint, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, and family violence, police said.
