Local dry cleaners seized by comptroller

FORT WORTH -- Officials with the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts have seized four dry cleaning businesses in Tarrant County because of delinquent sales tax.

A lien was filed against Taufiq Ahmed who owes $239,000 in sales tax, according to an email from the comptroller's office.

The businesses are Comet Cleaners, 3204 Camp Bowie Blvd. Suite C, Fort Worth; Comet Cleaners, 8808 Camp Bowie W. Suite 160, Fort Worth; Comet Cleaners, 2977 S. Precinct Line Road, Fort Worth; and Martinizing Dry Cleaners, 109 W. Harwood Road, Euless.

Signs have been posted in each location to let customers know when they can bring their claim tickets to pick up their cleaning.

Officials are accepting only cash, checks or money orders. Cash customers must have the exact amount.
