TCU’s Alexandra Bonetti leads Frogs women to 7th-place finish

TCU sophomore Alexandra Bonetti tied for ninth for her second consecutive career-best finish, while the Frogs placed seventh after the final round Tuesday at the Central District Invitational golf tournament in Parris, Fla.

Bonetti birdied two of her first seven holes en route to a final-round 73 and TCU’s low score on the day. The sophomore from Paris, France, finished the tournament with a 6-over-par 222, seven strokes behind medalist Natalie Wille of Augusta State.

Bonetti's previous career-best result was a tie for 12th at last week's Lady Puerto Rico Classic.

Sanna Nuutinen and Kortnie Maxoutopoulis both recorded 76s. Nuutinen, tied for 20th. It was her third top-20 finish in five tournaments this season and the 11th of her career. Maxoutopoulis tied for 36th.

The 53rd-ranked Horned Frogs, who won last year's Central District Invitational, posted a final-round 306 for a 912 total and their second straight top-10 finish.

TCU men lead

TCU finished late Monday in sole possession of the team lead as play was suspended due to darkness during Round 1 of The Prestige at PGA West.

TCU, ranked 13th in latest Golfweek/Sagarin national team rankings, extended its streak of holding the lead after the opening round to three straight tournaments, finishing its first effort at the Greg Norman Course with a 6-under 278. All four TCU players finished in the top 12 on the leader board.
