For one day at least, it's going to be a little gloomy around North Texas.

Some much-needed rain is on the way Wednesday with temperatures hovering in the mid-40s. There could be a little sleet or pea-sized hail early Wednesday morning, though temperatures will be well above freezing.

"It will be the opposite of Tuesday. Instead of sunny and mild, it will be cold and rainy," said National Weather Service meteorologist Eric Martello.

Although there will probably be a break in the rain sometime Wednesday, a second round should arrive early Thursday, bringing thunderstorms that could pack hail and strong winds.

"We'll start to see a quick rise in temperatures Wednesday night into Thursday with storms, especially after midnight, and with it will come a chance of stronger storms with wind and hail," Martello said.

Storms should end by mid-day Thursday.

By the time it's over, parts of the Dallas-Fort Worth area could see anywhere from a half-inch to an inch-and-a-half of precipitation. Highs will return to the upper 60s on Thursday.

"It's a good rain - we certainly could use it - but the good news is it's probably not going to cause any serious problems," Martello said.
