UT Arlington women’s basketball team has had a forgettable season, but it hasn’t been as bad as the season the New Orleans Privateers have had.
The two teams will face off today at 12 p.m. at the College Park Center, as New Orleans comes into the game with a 3-19 record.UT Arlington interim coach Karin Blair said the team’s routine will not be thrown off because of the early game.“It’s an early game and that will be a little unusual but our routine will be the same,” Blair said.At one point in the season, the Privateers were on a 16-game losing streak but it was finally snapped after they beat Houston Baptist 65-58. The Privateers beat Utah Valley 55-51 on Thursday.Even though the Mavericks lost 78-64 to Seattle on Saturday, the Mavericks outscored Seattle 44-43 in the second half.Blair said when the team can put 40 minutes together they can be special.“It’s a process for us and we have to continue to get better each and every day,” Blair said.Junior guard Laila Suleiman, who leads the team with 9.2 points per game and 10.6 points per game against conference opponents, said their play in the second half against Seattle is something they can take into today’s game.“In the second half, we were more aggressive and played with more energy and we look to carry that against New Orleans,” Suleiman said.More information
