Boys basketball
The Martin, Lamar, Bowie and Seguin boys basketball teams get their postseasons under way this week. All games were scheduled to be played after the print deadline.Lamar meets Keller, the second seed out of District 4-5A, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Grapevine High School. The two teams didn’t play in the regular season, though Keller did face Martin in the Spring Creek Thanksgiving Classic tournament, winning 53-50.Martin takes on Southlake Carroll, the fourth seed from 4-5A, 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Saginaw High School. Carroll enters the game on a hot streak, having won its last two district games by more than 20 points.Bowie faces Richland, which won District 4-5A, at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Grand Prairie High School. Richland was 23-9 on the season and 12-2 in district.Seguin travels to UT Tyler to take on its Region II bi-district opponent Nacogdoches at 5 p.m. Tuesday. The Cougars enter the postseason ranked ninth in Texas and 35th in the nation.SoftballThe Arlington Senior Softball Association is seeking players age 55 and up for a seven-team league with play beginning April 1.Games are Tuesday and Thrusday mornings at the Harold Patterson field and run through Sept. 26.The fun-oriented league is affiliated with the Metroplex Senior Citizens Softball Association, which has 32 teams in the Dallas-Fort Worth region.Information: call Association President Jim Delmar, 817-460-1668, or e-mail thesunchaser@sbcglobal.net.Sports leaguesThe city of Arlington is registering adult and youth sports leagues throughout February and March.For adults, registration is open for kickball (ends Saturday) and softball (ends Feb. 28).
