Alvarado man killed in crash

A 26-year-old Alvarado man was killed Sunday morning when he lost control of a pickup he was driving on a Johnson County road and crashed into a tree, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety report released Monday.

DPS officials identified the victim as James D. Lane. He died at the scene.

The crash occurred shortly after 4:30 a.m. Sunday on County Road 308, six miles north of Grandview.

Lane was driving a 1997 Ford truck east on the road when it failed to make a curve and veered off the road, according to the DPS report.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt, the report stated.

DPS troopers were still investigating the wreck on Monday.
