The Water Utility Department has coordinated with the Tarrant County Master Gardener Association to host a series of Texas SmartScape classes.

Whether you’re designing a garden for your new home or adding a few new plants to your yard, Texas SmartScape can help. It gives you the tools you need to plan your garden, select the right plants and care for them in a manner that saves you time and money while at the same time protecting our streams and rivers and ultimately conserving our water resources.

Classes are held at the Water Treatment Plant, 707 Pleasant Ridge Court, behind Worley Middle School and Church of Christ buildings. All classes are free to any Mansfield resident. Sign up today, seating is limited. To register for a class, call (817) 453-5420 or e-mail water@masnfield-tx.gov.

The following is a list of the Texas SmartScape classes being held from 7-9 p.m. each Thursday in March at the Water Treatment Plant:

Square Foot Gardening March 7

Insects in the Garden March 14

Backyard Composting March 21

Lawn Care for North Texas March 28

There will be door prizes to go along with the great information. For more details about each class, go to www.mansfield-tx.gov or contact education specialist Arianne Shipley at (817) 477-2248 or arianne.shipley@mansfield-tx.gov.
