OXFORD, Miss. -- Stuart Turner's first hit for Mississippi -- a grand slam in the bottom of the first inning -- carried the Rebels to a 5-2 victory over TCU on Sunday afternoon and a sweep of a season-opening series.

No. 12 TCU, which lost 1-0 on Friday and 5-2 on Saturday, led 1-0 after Jantzen Witte's solo home run in the top of the first.

The Rebels, ranked No. 13 in one national poll, quickly rallied on two walks, a base hit and the two-out home run by Turner, a junior college transfer.

Stefan Crichton, who lasted one inning, took the loss for the Horned Frogs, who began last season 2-6 but went to the NCAA super regionals.

Ole Miss stretched the lead to 5-1 in the fourth inning, scoring on two hits with two outs.

Witte, who had three hits, led off the sixth inning with a double and eventually scored after ground-ball outs by Kevin Cron and Derek Odell.

The Horned Frogs loaded the bases with two outs in the seventh before Rebels reliever Scott Weathersby retired Witte.

TCU (0-3) opens its home season at 6:30 p.m. Friday against nationally ranked Cal State Fullerton.
