TROY, Ala. -- North Texas clawed back to within four points after a 12-point deficit at the half, but turnovers and transition buckets caught up with the Mean Green and Troy ran away with an 86-69 win on Saturday.

Freshman Loryn Goodwin's 20 points were negated by North Texas' 30 turnovers, leading to 40 points for the Trojans (6-19, 3-13 Sun Belt).

Goodwin also made four 3-pointers to break the North Texas single-season record of 61. She has 63.

BreAnna Dawkins had 14 points for the Mean Green (10-16, 9-8) and Alexis Hyder added 10.

Troy controlled the first-half flow with an efficient transition game. The Trojans forced a UNT season-high 13 first-half turnovers, and compiled a 12-0 edge in fast-break points to go into halftime with a 43-31 lead.

The Trojans, who led by as many as 14 in the half, shot 55.9 percent as a team, thanks to 14 layups in the first half alone.

UNT entered the game with a Sun Belt-high 11.0 steals per game, but notched just four, compared to 17 from Troy.

North Texas cut the lead to 61-57 with 10 minutes remaining, but the Trojans would push their game-high lead to 21 with two minutes to play.

The Mean Green face Florida Atlantic at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Super Pit.
