ARLINGTON -- A game after winning for the first time at College Park Center in the venue's two seasons -- and under interim coach Karen Blair -- the UT Arlington women's basketball team crashed back to earth.

Seattle's defense shut down the Mavericks in the first half as the Redhawks (15-9, 12-3 Western Athletic Conference) took a 78-64 road victory.

UTA (5-19, 3-11) shot 27 percent in the first half. Blair said Seattle's defense gave the Mavericks plenty of trouble.

"We weren't moving ball very well against the zone and we weren't able to penetrate to get the looks that we needed," Blair said.

Desherra Nwanguma, who had a career-high 27 points Thursday against Idaho, had two fouls in the first 2:37 and had to sit.

"Desherra has been playing fantastic for us in the last five or six games, so getting her out definitely hurt us on the offensive end," Blair said.

Seattle went on an 18-3 run for a 26-11 lead.

UTA made two field goals the rest of the half as the Redhawks led 35-20 lead at halftime.

UTA cut Seattle's lead to 38-29 with three consecutive 3-pointers to start the second half. The Redhawks responded with a 9-2 run to take a 47-31 lead.

Malaika Green's 3-pointer pulled the Mavericks within single digits at 51-43 with 9:14 left before a 15-2 Redhawks run.
