ARLINGTON -- Derek Miller's hard-hit single to center in the bottom of the ninth inning gave UT Arlington a 7-6 walk-off victory over Louisiana Tech in both teams' season opener at Clay Gould Ballpark.

UTA rallied from a 6-1 deficit, scoring two runs in three of the last four innings. Chad Nack (1-0) was the Mavericks' winning pitcher, allowing four hits and an earned run in four relief innings with five strikeouts.

John Michael Twichell (hit by a pitch) and Justin Copeland (single) reached in the ninth for UTA with no outs. Darien McLemore's soft grounder tied it 6-6 before Miller's walk-off blast. Game 2 of the series is at 2 p.m. today.
