OXFORD, Miss. -- Brett Johnson had two hits and Brandon Finnegan pitched six solid innings in his season debut, but Ole Miss fended off TCU for a 1-0 victory in both teams' 2013 season opener.

Trailing 1-0, TCU loaded the bases with one out in the ninth. Jantzen Witte reached on an error, and Johnson reached on a bunt single.

Davy Wright's sacrifice put the tying run at third, and Dylan Fitzgerald was intentionally walked. Ole Miss tried a double play on Kevin Daniels' grounder but missed the relay.

TCU thought it had tied the game, but an interference call was made for the game-ending third out.

Finnegan (0-1) allowed five hits, an unearned run and struck out four.

Game 2 of the series is today at 1:30 p.m.
