Just what is the "Tarrant 5" (Republican state legislators) going to influence? Yes, they have taken over the Tarrant delegation and denied its chairmanship to Rep. Diane Patrick, who is as close to being a statesman as we have in the Texas House.

Now what? They are introducing bills at a record pace -- introduced for show, as most, if not all, of them will never make it out of committee. When it comes to voting, they will be lock-step followers of the governor's Tea Party agenda, and that hardly is "influencing" anything.

They are opposed to new revenue sources to fund transportation projects. They will oppose more spending for schools, including higher education. They will oppose extension of Medicaid. They will continue to walk lock-step over the cliff of making Texas 50th among the states in everything that reflects quality of life except low taxes and regulation.

The voters in their districts will be proud. Hope the ones who didn't vote in the primary realize what they let happen. Makes me ashamed to be a Republican.
