Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus was in camp Thursday morning a few days ahead of the first full-squad workout, and it didn't take long for him to face questions about his contract situation.

He has two seasons left before he becomes a free agent. But the issue has become more urgent this off-season because of the presence of Jurickson Profar.

Andrus said that the Rangers and his agent, Scott Boras, have talked during the off-season. Andrus wants to stay with the Rangers over the long-term, which would include his prime years, and build a home and start a family in the Metroplex.

"We'll just have to wait and see," Andrus said. "I feel good. I'm trying not to focus on it. I've still got two years left on my contract."

Borbon video

Julio Borbon. Remember him? Ron Washington does, and the Rangers' manager talked about the one-time center fielder of the future Thursday during his daily morning chat with the media. Borbon needs to be focused and consistent to make the Rangers' roster, Washington said. Video by Jeff Wilson.
