When UT Arlington plays Idaho tonight at College Park Center, it will be the first time since the 2006-07 season that Samantha Morrow will not be the Mavericks' head coach.
Morrow stepped down Tuesday after UTA athletic director Jim Baker told her that he will not renew her contract at the end of the season. Morrow had a combined overall record of 10-41 over the last two seasons.Assistant coach Karen Blair will be the interim coach for the remainder of the season. On the court, the Mavericks will try to snap a home losing streak that has reached 13 games.Getting a win against Idaho will be difficult. The Vandals have won six of their last seven games and reached .500 for the first time this season after beating Denver on Saturday 70-64.In the first meeting against Idaho on Jan.19 the Mavericks fell 70-52. The Vandals shot 44 percent from the court and held the Mavericks to 30 percent shooting. The Vandals' 20-0 run in the first half broke the game open early. The only bright spot during that game was the play of junior forward Desherra Nwanguma, who had a season high of 18 points.
