High school basketball

Two Arlington school district girls basketball teams entered the Class 5A playoffs in first-place Bowie and second-place Martin.

Bowie completed its tour through District 3-5A play with a perfect 14-0 record (29-5 overall). Martin went 10-4 in district (17-13 overall).

The Seguin girls went 13-1 to win their district and advance into the 4A postseason.

The Seguin boys finished their season this week after the press deadline but had the chance to post the same record as the girls team and entered the week assured of at least a tie for the district title.

Among the school district's 5A boys teams, Bowie, Martin and Lamar are all poised to make the postseason, with Bowie and Martin facing off in their last district game this week. The winner had an outside chance of tying for the district title, should Arlington upset first-place North Crowley in their season finale.
