Keller keeps it close, loses in third

The Keller Varsity Silver hockey team hung right in there against Highland Park for the first two periods against on Thursday night, but ended up losing 6-3 following two unanswered goals from the Scots in the third period.

Barron Morris got things going for Keller against Highland Park, scoring at the 7:12 mark of the first period on a power play goal with an assist from Sterling Smith.

Highland Park tied it up at the end of the first period, and took a 2-1 lead early in the second period.

Andrew Adamiak answered with a shorthanded unassisted goal midway through the second period to know the game at two a piece.

The Scots scored two goals later in the period, and with 1:24 left to play in the second, Bryant Kilkenny scored on an assist from Josh Farmer to make it 4-3 heading into the third.

Highland Park scored twice in the third to put the game away.

Keller will next play Mansfield at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Euless Green Arena.

Nelson girls defeat Lake Dallas, remain unbeaten

The Byron Nelson girls soccer team defeated Lake Dallas 2-0 on Friday night to improve to 14-0-1 on the season.

Lynnsey Brim and Darla Kay Hyde scored the two goals in the game for the Lady Bobcats.

Nelson played Guyer on Tuesday before the press deadline and plays at Denton High School at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Keller cruises against Haltom on both sides

The Keller boys soccer team defeated Haltom 3-1 on Friday night in Haltom City.

Zach Basinger, Brendon Haberkorn and Jackson Weddle all scored in the game for the Indians.

The Keller girls made it a clean sweep for KHS, defeating the Lady Buffs 6-0.

Allie Harper scored two goals in the game, while Kirby Kern, Alyssa Kolvitz, Amanda Stickney and Ryan Stickney all scored for the Lady Indians as well.
