Legacy boys top Summit again
Seniors Chad Pursley and Marchie Murdock led the way in Legacy’s 42-37 win against Summit on Friday night at Summit High School.The Broncos swept the season series with the Jaguars after winning their first meeting in January 40-38. This game also went down to the wire, but Legacy’s defense gave the Broncos the win.Legacy held Summit to just two points in the first quarter and just 19 points through the first three quarters. Pursley and Murdock led the way in scoring for the Broncos, with 11 and 10 points respectively. Lake Ridge girls’ season endsLake Ridge had a furious second-half rally, but the Lady Eagles fell short against Waxahachie on Friday night, 53-47.The loss gave Waxahachie the final playoff spot in District 15-4A and denied Lake Ridge from making the playoffs in the program’s first season.Waxahachie led 37-11 at halftime but Lake Ridge came out of the locker room and immediately rallied. The Lady Eagles outscored the Lady Indians 13-5 in the third quarter.In the fourth, things got even tighter. Kylie Collins knocked down back to back three pointers and Paige Demery scored a layup to cut the Waxahachie lead to 49-47 with a minute to play.Waxahachie then got two quick buckets after some Lake Ridge turnovers and sealed the game on defense, not allowing the Lady Eagles to score for the last minute of the game.Maya Hawkins led Lake Ridge with nine points. Timberview girls finish second in District 7-5ASenior guard Lili Thompson scored 24 points and led Timberview to a 67-61 overtime win against Cedar Hill on Friday night. The win gave the Lady Wolves the second seed from District 7-5A with 11 district wins.Down 52-40 entering the fourth quarter, Thompson helped engineer a 19-7 fourth quarter for Timberview to send the game into overtime.In overtime, the Lady Wolves defense shut down Cedar Hill, limiting the Lady Longhorns to just two points in overtime. -- Josh BoweHave more to add?
