After a 3-0 loss to Garland/Bischop Lynch, the Mansfield Hockey Association club team responded with two better games in the last two weeks.The Tigers lost to Highland Park in overtime 3-2 and beat McKinney 6-3 on Thursday.In the win against McKinney, Mansfield started the game down 3-0. McKinney led 2-0 after one period and then got its third goal in the second period.Mansfield responded with a goal from Matthew Murphy to close the second period down 2-1. In the third period, the floodgates opened for the Tigers.Mansfield scored five unanswered goals in the period. Senior Kyle Watson had a hat trick in the third period, scoring three goals in the final frame alone.Bobby Baumeister and Dillon Lieberg scored the other goals for the Tigers in the period.Two of Watson’s goals game back-to-back. One was on a power play to tie the game and the next established the lead just six minutes into the period.Goalie Zach Endy had 27 saves to complete the comeback win for the Tigers.In the loss to Highland Park, Mansfield gave the second-place team in the Varsity East division all it could handle. The Tigers tied the game 1-1 in the second period and later got a game-tying goal from Remington Schugart to send the game into overtime.Ricky Regala scored the game-winner for Highland Park in overtime. Endy stopped 39 of 42 shots to keep Mansfield in the game.On Thursday, Mansfield celebrates senior night against Keller for its eight seniors: Watson, Baumeister, Schugart, Steve Horn, Joe Sheppard, Sam Bothmann, Sandro Cervantes and Will DuBois.The game is at 7 p.m. at the Dr Pepper Star Center in Euless.
