Extension service offers healthy hearts cooking class

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Parker County will be offering the “Healthy Hearts” cooking classes.

The two-session classes will be on Tuesdays, Feb. 26 and March 5. The cost to attend the classes will be $20 per person, which covers both evenings and will include recipes, demonstrations and heart-healthy food to taste each evening of the series. The classes will be from 6 p..m. to 8 p.m. at the Parker County Agricultural Services Center, located at 604 North Main Street in Weatherford.

“Healthy Hearts Cooking is an educational program to help people with who want to learn to eat and prepare foods heart healthy.”

The Healthy Hearts Cooking series will include the following topics: Understanding Fats and how to Cut the Fat in Main Dishes, Reducing Sodium and Increasing Fiber, Heart Healthy Foods, Understanding Food Labels, Meatless Meal Ideas, Cooking Fish and Ways to include Beef in a Healthy Heart Diet.
