A Fort Worth police search of a Haltom City wooded area for a possible buried body has been called off after investigators found no evidence of a crime, officials said.

Police began searching the area near the 6200 block of Little Fossil Road after receiving information Sunday about a possible slaying and burial site.

Cpl. Tracey Knight, a Fort Worth police spokeswoman, said homicide investigators and personnel from the Tarrant County medical examiner's office investigated but have now called off the search.

"Investigators have found no evidence at this time that an offense has been committed," she said in an email.
