A Granbury teen was killed Saturday afternoon when his truck clipped an 18-wheeler, traveled off a highway and hit a tree and fence, said a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper.

Authorities identified the victim as Joseph Ryan Turner, 19.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was identified as Keith Allen Jordan, 46, of Morehouse, Mo. He was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth with leg and internal injuries. His condition was unavailable on Sunday.

The crash occurred about 1:30 p.m. Saturday about a mile west of Granbury on U.S. 377.

Turner was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on the highway; the 18-wheeler was eastbound, according to DPS reports.

The Silverado veered over into the eastbound lane, clipping the 18-wheeler, the DPS report stated. The pickup continued eastbound through a ditch and crashed into a tree and fence.

Turner was not wearing a seat belt, according to the DPS report. Jordan was wearing one.
