DENVER -- Tomas Klempa scored a little over six minutes into the second period, a goal that held up as the Fort Worth Brahmas (28-15-5) shut out the Denver Cutthroats (23-20-6) 1-0 on Saturday night at Denver Coliseum.

Daniel Spivak and Sy Nutkevitch teamed to assist on Klempa's game-winner. Fort Worth goalie Brad Fogal stopped all 23 Denver shots on goal. Fogal had 16 saves after the Brahmas' goal.

Fort Worth outshot Denver 14-5 in the first period but couldn't find the net. Denver's Michael Trebish and Fort Worth's Shawn Szydlowski received major penalties for fighting in the period.

Klempa deflected in Spivak's point shot for his 14th goal of the season and third goal in the last two games against the Cutthroats. The Brahmas opened up a seven-point lead on Denver for third place in the Central Hockey League.

Denver's power-play unit finished 0 for 7 in the game one day after going 0 for 6 in a 4-3 loss to Fort Worth on Friday. The Brahmas finished 0 for 5 on the power play. Denver's Kieran Millan finished with 24 saves.

Denver's A.J. Gale saw his six-game point streak come to an end after hitting the goal post twice in the contest, including during a 5-on-3 power play for 1:49 early in the third period.

Fort Worth visits Arizona on Tuesday night.
