An 11 year-old boy was transported by air to Cooks Children’s Hospital Thursday after he was struck while riding a bike in Weatherford.

His condition was not known Friday morning but Weatherford Police said the reason he was airlifted was because of a possible head injury.

Weatherford Police Chief Mike Manning said the boy, whom he did not identify, was crossing east to west in the 1500 block of South Main and rode in front of an SUV going south in the outside lane.

Manning said the 37 year-old woman driving the SUV was not charged at the scene because it appeared the boy failed to yield to oncoming traffic. He added, however, that the investigation is ongoing.
