DENTON -- Jamal Crook and George Fant led a balanced scoring effort with 14 points apiece to push Western Kentucky past North Texas 70-59 on Thursday night.

The Mean Green had rallied from an 11-point deficit for a 51-51 tie with 4:33 remaining. But the Hilltoppers (13-11, 7-6 Sun Belt) went on an 11-2 run to break it open.

UNT, suffering its fifth straight loss, could not close to within six points the rest of the way.

Fant also had eight rebounds and three blocked shots. Brandon Harris scored 10 points, including three 3-pointers.

North Texas (8-17, 3-11) had four players combine to score 58 of its points.

Alzee Williams scored 17, Jordan Williams 15, Tony Mitchell 14 and Roger Franklin had 12. Mitchell also had 13 rebounds. It was the 17th career double-double for Mitchell.

"Late, we did not do a good job stopping them," North Texas coach Tony Benford said.

"A couple of their shooters got away from us, and our offense went stagnant and we had some crucial turnovers."
