FORT WORTH - A jury has sentenced an Arlington man to life in prison without parole after convicting him earlier Thursday of continuous sexual assault of children.

A total of eight young women and girls testified at a sexual abuse trial this week that Gregg Wesley MacIntosh, 42, molested them while they were between the ages of 5 and 12.

The eight girls and women filled two rows of pews with their mothers in back of the gallery in state District Judge Robb Catalano's court. Three girls came forward in the guilt-innocence phase of the trial. A life sentence was the maximum the jury could assess. Five women and girls came forward in the sentencing phase.

The women and girls were MacIntosh's relatives and friends of relatives or children of women he dated. One girl told the jury that when her mother was asleep, MacIntosh would molest her. Another girl said that MacIntosh would give her money after he rubbed her on top of her clothes near her private parts.

"It made me feel uncomfortable," she said. "I told my school counselor."

Two girls who testified earlier this week, said MacIntosh lavished them with gifts, such as a Kindle Fire, bicycles and a horse, to gain their parents' trust and to make the girls like him.

The abuse occurred when they slept at his house.

The girls testified that they began visiting MacIntosh's home when they became friends with a girl related to him.

MacIntosh typically slept downstairs on a couch, and the girls slept in bedrooms upstairs, according to the testimony. One girl testified that sometimes when she became annoyed with her friends, she would go downstairs and fall asleep with MacIntosh. Other times, MacIntosh climbed the stairs and threw one of the girls over his shoulder, took her down to the family room and placed her on the couch next to him, the girls said.

"I would tell him to stop, but he wouldn't stop," one girl said.

One girl testified that MacIntosh used a vibrator to touch her shins, back and genitals.

The Star-Telegram is not identifying the girls because of their age and the nature of the charges.

A forensic interviewer with the Alliance for Children, Tarrant County's child advocacy center, interviewed both girls. She testified that inconsistencies in one of the girl's statements might be related to previous molestation by a family member.

Also Wednesday, a 22-year-old relative of MacIntosh testified that 15 years ago she was forced to lie in bed with MacIntosh on one side and her mother on the other while he repeatedly put his hands under her clothes and touched her buttocks.
