With cooler temperatures Friday and a chance of rain this weekend, Thursday's weather will be hard to beat.

Temperatures were climbing into the upper 70s this afternoon, making it perfect it to be outdoors.

"A lot of people will tell you February is often the best month around here - not too hot and not too cold," said National Weather Service meteorologist Dan Shoemaker.

Some denizens of downtown Fort Worth took advantage of the mild weather and sunny skies to get outside.

Brayden Hudson of Fort Worth met his wife, Christine, and daughter Madeline, 2, for a picnic on the lawn of Burnett Park off Throckmorton Street in downtown, where others were enjoying the spring-like weather.

It won't be chilly on Friday but a weak cold front will drop highs back into the mid-60s.

Most people should get wet this weekend with widespread rainfall expected overnight Saturday and some areas seeing a half-inch to an inch of rain.

There are no signs of winter returning by the end of the Stock Show on Saturday, either.

Temperatures should be around 70 on Sunday before another cold front knocks back down into the 50s on Monday and Tuesday.

But Shoemaker said there's still no sign of arctic outbreak coming back to the area.

"Dropping back into the 50s - that's basically just getting us back to normal," he said. "But Tuesday should be the coolest day of the week."
